Who does rollbars? 72 Malibu, street/strip car, 6-8 point bar, thru package tray as to keep backseat useable and front bars to dip down to clear arm rests and door handles. Would it be best to buy a kit and have installed or fabricate the whole thing?. I have a mig welder but havent welded in a long time, will need some help or ideas.
Big Bob, In my opinion, a kit would fit the car, but probably not passengers. A well designed custom cage/roll bar will fit closer to the inside of the car and won't be quite as visible from the outside and also may not be an obstruction to the view of the driver. It also might give the driver more room..if maybe... he was a little on the portly side... and needed some space for his..uh..assets getting in and out of the car. You need to decide if you want to go mild steel or chromemoly. The mild steel weighs more but welds easier. The chrome moly will weigh less, not lose it's memory (will spring back instead of bend) but, will require a tig welder. Just my two cents worth.
Hey junkman,,,its faster than any of those Ford products you have :) and soon to have a bigger big block, so I can keep up with Fast Freddie and his turbo charged, fuel injected little block wagon.
Give Jeffers Pro Cars a call great guy to deal with and gets it done quick with excellent quality not sloppy. His phone number is (636)671-2727. Had him install some extra bars on my dragster to make it legal and it passed nhra certification with no problems.
Hey I'd go with wheelsup and call Rick Fisher at PC weld and fab. I was out at Jim's the other day and asked him how freds car was coming, but no one knew. Shouldn't it be done by now?
It should have been done a long time ago, I heard they had turbo troubles, bearings or something? Who knows? I'm not sure if he is healthy enough to drive it.
I thought it should've been done back in the summer or something. I hope he gets better. We're gonna try to bring back the old days of driving them to town to the middle school parking lot or sonic on the weekend. I'm just dying to see the car run.
